"Rarely does reality quite live up to ones attempts to recreate precious memories of childhood but that is precisely what my son and I attempted this summer. We wanted to pass on to his children some of the joyous times he and I both spent as children on Canandaigua Lake in N.Y. I am happy to tell you that our week at Gilmore Camps not only met but far surpassed anything we could have possibily dreamed of. Much of this is thanks to Tom Gilmore and the beautiful place he so lovingly and carefully cares for and shares with others. It is just a gorgeous site and perfect marriage of camp and comfort. I could go on and on but will end by saying that I hope to make a week at Gilmore Camps an annual event and encompass even more of my family."

About

Begin your mornings sipping coffee while watching the sun sparkle across the water. Though many guests never leave the beach, others spend their days hiking a nearby trail, exploring the lake by canoe, or taking a trip to the many surrounding sites. Evening brings cookouts, good company, and maybe a game or two of pool or horseshoes before drifting to sleep with the hauntingly beautiful cries of loons echoing in the background.

As a guest of ours once wrote, “MAINE! The very name inspires a deeper breath and longing. While it is true that most travelers are satisfied with sophisticated centers, we find that the discriminating seek those nooks formed by encircling hills which supply a retreat, a solace, and a joy of living - such is Gilmore Camps.”
